Soooo...what hands win in the game of Texas Holdem???
That's easy, for the most part.....here's the list and an easy way to remember the order from weakest hand to strongest hand....in other words, the poker hand rankings.
1. High card - is the highest card in your hand, ie. (If you have an ace that doesn't pair up with anything else in your hand, that's your high card.) the value of the individual cards are 2-ace.
2. One pair - this is when you have 2 cards of the same value, ie. (your hand is 7,7,5,4,9...you have a pair of sevens).
3. Two pair- simply put you have 2 pairs of same value cards (7,7,4.4.8...you have a pair of 4's and a pair of 7's)
4. Three of a kind - you have 3 of the same value cards (7,7,7,5,K...you have 3 7's)
5. Straight - all five cards are in a counting order (1,2,3,4,5 or,5,6,7,8,9 or 10,J,Q,K,A.etc.) the highest card of a straight is the better straight...if you have 1,2,3,4,5 but your opponent has 4,5,6,7,8...the opponent wins because the straight is higher.
6. Flush - all five cards are the same suit...all cards are spades, or hearts, or clubs, or diamonds.
7. Boat or Full house - this is a combination of a pair and three of a kind...ie. (2,2,5,5,5)
8. Four of a kind - just like three of a kind....but 4 cards same value (8,8,8,8,6)
9. Straight Flush - is a combo of the straight and the flush...all cards are the same suit and they are in counting order...ie (2 of spades, 3 of spades, 4 of spades, 5 of spades, 6 of spades)
10. Royal Flush - the highest straight flush there is....(10 OF SAME SUIT, J OF SAME SUIT, Q OF SAME SUIT, K OF SAME SUIT, ACE OF SAME SUIT) No hand beats this one!!!!!
Now, here is an easy way to remember this order...an acronym...H123SFB4SFR....Ok, maybe it's not that easy at first but you'll get the hang of it...lol....I think of it like a song... Hi! 1.2.3. San Fransisco bay...4...San Fransisco rays!!!...rays as in sunshine...I just think of it like I wanna go to San Fran for some sunshine...and I count it out like a cheer leader. I know guys, this seems a little...well your poker buddies might not wanna see you clap and do a somersault, so don't....just recite this in your head over and over again until you get it, trust me it'll hit you like a ton of bricks.
